Went for 4.5 miles this morning with Sam and was sweating bullets by the end of it. I finished the run by doing some pretty good hills in our neighboorhood. I was supposed to run strides but I think the hills were a good substitute.
Yesterday we went to the pool and I made it approximately 900 meters without stopping. Hopefully, I am ready for the 23rd.
Sam Update: She hates, hates, hates, hates tummy time. I was on baby center today and there was a post about the Bumbo seat. Several people have said they used the seat (with very close parental supervision) to help build neck control because their babies will not do tummy time. I then had to find us a Bumbo. We went to Kmart - no Bumbo. We went to Walmart - only in pink. We went to Babies R Us - only in pink and blue. We went to Target and bought a green one. I sat Sam in it right after she ate and she appears to like it. I was holding my hands around her head the whole time. She has decent neck control but I wouldn't walk away from her in the seat at this point in time. Here is a picture of her in her new favorite chair.

Wow...Sam is just so precious. I'm Runner Mama and I'm expecting my first in November. How soon did you begin training post partum? Seriously, you are amazing! A sprint tri next week...I'll be thinking of you! I'm doing a 15K next week too and I'm praying for less humidity and heat.
ReplyDeleteI really wish I would have blogged while pregnant. It is awesome that you are doing so now!
ReplyDeleteI was active my entire pregnancy with a ton of encouragement from my doctor as well. He was sooooo awesome! That said, I couldn't have kept up with you. You go girl!!!!
I was able to run at least a little bit until about a week or so before delivery. When she dropped even walking was really painful. I also was swelling pretty badly in my legs. I don't listen to my body so well though & I continued to walk as much as possible & I rode my bike on the indoor trainer as well as spending time on the elliptical.
The hubby and I were doing laps around the hospital the day after Sam was born. When we got home 2 days later we started out walking 2 miles then increased every day. It is amazing how winded you feel after having a baby. Not to mention the little pouch you have around your belly. Where did that come from & when will it totally go away!
I started running exactly one week after she was born.
I felt good so I jumped into the middle of a 12 week sprint tri training plan, It was tough but doable. Yhr hardest part is finding the time to do longer workouts. I haven't worked in 8 weeks but I haven't gotten a thing done at home either, Hold Sam, feed Sam, change Sam, listen to Sam cry and repeat. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! She is so amazing!
