Tonight Travis went on a bike ride and I took Sam and Brett to the park. We were having a good time on the merry go round and finally Brett asked to stop. Sam agreed and so we stopped. Brett got off and Sam said she wanted to be pushed some more. I said we should take a break and then could come back later. She proceeded to stomp her foot at me. She knows she isn't supposed to do that. I said "I'm not pushing you any more tonight". She started to whine at me.
Then we were playing on the slide and she said "I don't like you!" Well that did it. I was done with her attitude for the evening and I told her so. She asked me to push her on the swing and I said "since you don't like me, I don't think I need to help you". Tears and more tears followed. I held my ground. I still feel guilty though.
Travis and his sister Kris did the first tri of the season for our tri group. Sam, Brett and I loaded up and went to watch. We saw them both come out of the water but then it started to rain so we packed up and headed to the mall to play instead.
Brett promptly pooped his diaper about 10 minutes into play time. He has done this the last two times we have gone to the mall to play. They weren't ready to leave so I being the awesome mom that I am let him run around for at least twenty more minutes stinking up the joint. Sorry to all of the rest of you who were there and had to witness this shining moment.
After lunch Travis, Sam and Brett napped and watched tv. I put in 26 miles on the trainer and then caught a break in the rainy weather and was able to get in 24 more outside. I was barreling down the trail and had to come to a screeching halt when I saw a tree down across the trail. I jumped off, hoisted my bike and then myself over and continued on my way. It was a good ride.
Tonight was a movie night and we snuggled on the couch and watched Tangled. Well at least Sam, Travis and I did. Brett was too busy building forts, driving motorcycles and fleeing bad guys!
Sam has been playing soccer for a few weeks now. It is for 4&5 year old boys and girls. Her team consists of 3 rambunctious boys and 3 mild mannered and non competitive girls! She does have a crush on her coach, Coach James though. She will follow him anywhere, do whatever he asks and give him hugs even during the middle of a game.
I am not sure she is going to love soccer but if she decides she does I think she will be a great soccer player. She scored her first goal last night. I didn't get to see it because I was busy chasing Brett around but she told me all about it and she was super excited. I'm sad I missed it but glad Travis got to see it!
We spent Father's Day weekend building a sand/dirt box for the kids. They loved the one at our old house.
Tonight I ran home from work and it was hot. I was drenched when I got home. Travis grilled up some steaks and then we spent the evening in the backyard watching the kiddos have a blast in the little pool. They love that thing!
Sam's last soccer game of this session is tomorrow night. Swimming lessons start again in July!
It started off on Friday with a trip to the chiropractor for me. I'm having back/neck issues again. It is a grinding pain that sometimes gets pretty intense. The chiro said my 1st rib is out and he popped it back into place. It hurt like heck but felt gradually better the rest of the day.
We went to spin on Saturday morning and I worked hard. Average watts of 188 which is a PR for me by quite a bit. After that I went to get adjusted by the chiro again.
That afternoon Travis got out the Jeep and we drove it too the park. Sam wanted ice cream pretty badly so we stopped at Cherry Berry on the way. She was super pumped about the Cookie Monster flavor!
On Sunday I went for a 10 mile run outside with Flynn. I haven't run that far outside since Dam to Dam last year. It felt decent. I think Casey's pizza is going to be my pre race fuel of choice from now on. We ate it on Friday night and spin class rocked on Saturday morning. I ate leftovers on Saturday night and made it through a decent run Sunday morning.
Of course the Easter bunny came and the kids found their baskets bright and early. There was no time for laying around and watching cartoons in bed in the morning. Sam came running in saying "I think the Easter bunny was here. Let's go see!"
After my run we flew kites and rode bikes. Then we had lunch, went to the lake, then rode bikes some more. The kids had the most fun throwing rocks into the water at the lake and digging around in the dirt next door. Who really needs toys anyway?
I had a horrible headache by the end of the day. I was on my feet almost all day long and water wasn't in my hand for most of the day. When will I learn?
Sam had kindergarten round-up this morning. She was nervous but did great. I worked from home so I got to enjoy breakfast with my beautiful baby girl. She had her favorite breakfast of strawberries & blueberries, a chocolate chip pancake with syrup an a little milk. I coached her on how drop off would work. I told her that she couldn't chase after me as I was leaving and that I was under instructions from the teacher to get her settled, say goodbye and LEAVE. The principal had stressed the leaving part.
Sam did great at drop off. She got settled at a table and started playing right away. I picked her up at 11:15. She said she had a really fun morning. They colored, sang and danced, read books and had a chocolate chip cookie and milk (she had to point out that she even got her own little carton of milk).
We went to JJ's for lunch, Sam climbed into a high top chair and told me that is were we should always sit when it is just her and I. We then went home and I worked as Sam played an watched Frozen.
After work we got out Sam's bike with training wheels on it and rode that pretty pink baby up and down the street a bazillon times. I love, love, love living on a culdesac.
Then we went to swimming lessons an she did awesome there as well. Whew, that was a busy day.
I snuck in a 3 mile run after the kids were in sleep and I ate entirely too many Red Vines then went to bed.
